چکیده

An active flutter suppression using linear sub-optimal control scheme is investigated for a 2dof airfoil system with nonlinear torsional stiffness and limited deflection amplitude of its single actuator. The suppression of limit cycle oscillations in the nonlinear closed-loop system is achieved through maximization of the stability region of its linearized system. The critical value of the control input amplitude is determined via numerical continuation of the closed-loop limit cycle. At this value, the cycle experiences saddle-node bifurcation and disappears, satisfying the necessary condition for the global stability in the closed-loop system.

In this paper, a class of multi-input/multi-output aeroelastic systems with unstructured nonlinear uncertainty is considered. Under amild restriction that the system uncertaint...

Suppressing Aeroelastic Instability Using Broadband Passive Targeted Energy Transfers, Part 1:Theory

We study passive and nonlinear targeted energy transfers induced by resonant interactions between a singledegree-of-freedom nonlinear energy sink (NES) and a 2-DOF in-flow rigid wing model. We show that it is feasible to partially or even completely suppress aeroelastic instability by passively transferring vibration energy from thewing to the NES in a one-way irreversible fashion. Moreover, thi...

Passive Suppression of Aeroelastic Instabilities of In-flowwings by Targeted Energy Transfers to Lightweight Essentially Nonlinear Attachments

Abstract. Theoretical and experimental suppression of aeroelastic instabilities by means of broadband passive targeted energy transfers has been recently studied. A single-degree-offreedom (SDOF) nonlinear energy sink (NES) was coupled to a 2-DOF rigid wing modeled in the low-speed, subsonic regime with quasi-steady aerodynamic theory. The nonlinear attachment was designed and optimized to supp...

Helicopter Blade Stability Analysis Using Aeroelastic Frequency Response Functions

In the present paper, the aeroelastic stability of helicopter rotor blade is determined using Aeroelastic Frequency Response Function. The conventional methods of aeroelastic stability usually use an iterative procedure while the present method does not require such approach. Aeroelastic Frequency Response Functions are obtained by inverting dynamic stiffness matrix of the aeroelastic system. S...

Global Asymptotic Stabilization of the Prototypical Aeroelastic Wing Section via Tp Model Transformation

A comprehensive analysis of aeroelastic systems has shown that these systems exhibit a broad class of pathological response regimes when certain types of non-linearities are included. In this paper, we propose a design method of a state-dependent non-linear controller for aeroelastic systems that includes polynomial structural non-linearities. The proposed method is based on recent numerical te...
